Being a career mentee is a unique experience to our school. With this program you will be matched with a mentor who will share with you stories about their career and in turn will help you on your journey to find what career is of interest to you. During the academic year, your mentor and you will discuss a topic each week related to life after high school via two email communications each week. Sometimes the topic of discussion will have you watch a video, other times read a prompt, or even read a short newspaper article. The communications to your mentor are opportunities for you to reflect upon the topic and share your opinions and perspectives as well as ask questions to your mentor.
Having a career mentor is a valuable opportunity, intended to empower you and provide you with new insights to help build a strong structure to build your life off of. Your mentor is not going to persuade you to go down a certain career path, nor deter you from following your dream job. Mentors in our program are here to support you and share their experiences and knowledge. They have been in your place, walked in your shoes, and want to support you on your path to becoming a successful adult. All we ask is that you send two correspondences a week. While this mentoring program is all completed virtually, there will be a celebration at the end of the year for you to meet your mentor face to face. We highly recommend you attend this program.
